On behalf of the Pacific Northwest Regional Group of BNAPS and our parent organization, I would like to extend a hearty welcome to all of our members and friends to come and join us for BNAPEX 2010 in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. The last time this region hosted a convention was BNAPEX 1999 in Vernon, a full 10 years ago this year, so it was time to bring our annual meeting and show back to British Columbia. Our convention hotel will be the totally renovated and historic "Empress" hotel, once one of the CP Chateau style hotels, now part of the "Fairmont" group but just as grand as ever.
Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, located on the south end of Vancouver Island, is a holiday destination in its own right where you will find a host of activities for collector and companion alike. Starting with indoor attractions like the impressive Royal BC Museum to sightseeing visits of Butchart Gardens to truly once in a lifetime Westcoast experiences such as Whale watching excursions, your convention committee has incorporated a number of interesting tours into the convention schedule.
We have looked back into history and realized that the first stamp of 'British Columbia and Vancouver's Island', the 2½ pence dull rose of a young Queen Victoria was issued exactly 150 years ago, which bestows a decidedly historical theme onto this convention.
In the spirit of good fellowship and philately, we look forward to welcoming you to sample our Westcoast hospitality in Victoria, British Columbia in September of 2010.
On behalf of our convention committee,
Peter Jacobi, Chairman
